Reflections

Little lazier around the 4th this year. Not sure why. It was a warmer summer than '09, maybe that's why. In '09 when we had decent weather we headed to the boat as fast as we could. This year seemed like we could enjoy summer any day. We did manage to get a crew of four to go for a boat ride and a little dip in the lake the day after the 4th of July. It was mellow and warm, as nice, but different from the full boat picnic splashes of '09.No wind, a surface like glass,
if it was winter, you might slip on your...butt.
Benson is quite a bit like our former dog Wilson. He loves to go for boat rides. He's different in that he would rather ride in a car than chase one. Thank goodness.
Short hair but all girl.
I don't know how she did it, but she not only looked like this but talked like she had just sucked up some helium. Rachelle always tries to stay on the cutting edge of fashion.
On the cutting edge. Isn't it funny how much cooler younger ones look in the newest fashions.
Durning a water ballet demonstration, I stub my toe on a submerged igneous rock. I'm betting most of you haven't studied dance or geology and won't know if that could be true or not.
Startled by the screams of a dancer, Rachelle quickly makes sure she isn't being approached by one of those scary clown fish.
Ashely and I have just won the nominations for the Frog Prince and Water Princess First Annual 5th of July Lake Bemidji wet and wild wonderful water week convention held just off shore of the Migizi parking lot space 17 at the brand spankin' new Bemidji Regional Boondoggle Center.
Barbara consoles Benson. A sensitive type, and having worked hard he came in second on the Frog Prince contest, and fourth on the Water Princess. I felt bad, because they shouldn't have really let the college kids vote.
Benson stares over the open water and soon forgets such silly things as beauty contests. After all it's only skin deep, and he's got fur to go.
Barbara the producer of the event seems to have lost the interest of the main players, including Benson who appears to have decided to take a nap. I hope he's not pouting.
The trail bridge. On another day, one might see Barbara looking over the side, perhaps snapping a picture of a patient blue heron. Many days this is Barb's turn around point on her near daily four mile walk. She's started a new blog about it called Mississippi River Chronicles. Ask her about it. She has surprised herself with her writing and photography, a new interest.

I like the quote that we exist for others. As a teacher, that's what I believe it's all about. Now go write about others, and thus serve them.
