Summer Portraits

Summer lovin' had me a blast - summer lovin' happened so fast
I met a girl, crazy for me - I met a boy, cute as can be
Summer days driftin' away to uh-oh those summer nights
Tell me more, tell me more, did you get very far?
Tell me more, tell me more, like, does he have a car? ~Grease

August creates as she slumbers, replete and satisfied. ~Joseph Wood Krutch

Be like the flower, turn your face to the sun. ~Kahlil Gibran

A single sunbeam is enough to drive away many shadows. ~St. Francis of Assisi
Celebrate Summer -Sun drenched days and starlit nights...~Gooseberry Patch

Summer afternoon - summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language. ~Henry James

Long summer days, I keep thinking
What's to do with my time
So many ways, I keep sinking
What's to do with my time
Take me back, I don't mind
(Take me back) I've got time
(Take me back) and let me start again
Ah, ah, ah, ah long summer days ~Moody Blues

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate. ~William Shakespeare

Love is to the heart what the summer is to the farmer's year - it brings to harvest all the loveliest flowers of the soul. ~Author Unknown

Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability. ~Sam Keen

Well we`ll go swimmin every day
No time to work just time to play
If your folks complain just say,
Its summertime. ~The Jamies

In winter I get up at night
And dress by yellow candle-light.
In summer quite the other way
I have to go to bed by day.
~Robert Louis Stevenson

Summertime and the Living is Easy, Fish are Jumping and the Cotton is High. ~George Gershwin, sung by Janis

Summer is the time when one sheds one's tensions with one's clothes, and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit.
A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all's right with the world. ~Ada Louise Huxtable

To see the Summer Sky
Is Poetry, though never in a Book it lie -True Poems flee.

I live on an island and listen to jazz all day long. The sun is always shining, but you can still see the stars. The breeze sings astonishingly like Ella and the wind rumbles in a Louis way. My friends and I dance under magic skies. ~Author Unknown

And That’s the News From Lake Wobegon, Where All the Women are Strong, All The Men are Good Lookin’, and all the Children are Above Average. ~Garrison Keillor

LOVE this blog. What a fun day that was. The first time that Ethan came with us. The poems, well, they make me dream of summer and I cannot wait for it's return. I love these pictures. The last two, or three, are so artistic. I think Ashley took those. Beautiful. Good job Mikie. You took me back and made me "feel" that day.
Thanks, I needed that.

P.S. The one of my mom surprised me (cute!) and I love the one of your long dock and the blooming flowers.

"Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability"

So it seems like I'm enjoying deep summer like--let's see--most all of the time actually.

Too bad those deep summer days are in such short supply in these latitudes. I hope to rectify part of this by going to Hawaii and AZ in the next four months. May your summer memories sustain you even when wrapped in a blanket before a fire, and linger like the smoke from a bad damper.
