You know, I was thinking about writing something political, as I have a strong interest in politics. But sometimes I get so sick of it, I turn off the news for weeks. It's so depressing at times, seems like half the population is stark raving mad. I've got some views on local politics, and I work in Indian Country so sometime I might write about such things.
But right now it's 69 degrees at midnight, and that's my kind of summer night. Kinda makes me want to go for a short cruise in my Mustang convertible, take a peek at the bottom of the page. I'm the kind of a guy who likes my summers, and I like 'em hot. We've been pretty cool this summer, hardly ever over 80, but this week's an exception. Mid-80's yesterday and today. Gonna be pushing 90 tomorrow and 80's for the rest of the week. Let's face it, summer is really sensual for a lot of different reasons, but I also share the view of the "Boss" Bruce Springsteen who likes "Girls in Their Summer Clothes". If ya haven't heard the song, google it.
Everything and everyone is so active when it's summer. We like to be out on the lake, we own a pontoon. We don't fish, but we picnic, just cruise around. Sometimes we pick up friends and go have dinner at three or four places you can go eat by boat on Lake Bemidjigamaag. Now that the weather's hot, we also like to go for a swim off the boat. We have to use that boat a lot to make it pay for itself, not cheap owning a boat. But when ya live on water in Minnesota's Great North Woods, well ya gotta have a boat.
We are pretty blessed here with our four acres on the Father of Waters. We re-did our screen porch this year by making it into a three season sun porch. Smart move on Barb's part, I wasn't too sold on the idea until she pointed out I could quit putting up plastic to keep out the winter snows. Now I just love it. What a great place to sit out in the dark, hear the rustle of the leaves and a few night critters, debriefing with the spouse. Yeah, we're blessed. No doubt about it, and now that summer is here finally, well hi...why, I'm just feelin' all right.
